Beautiful, Exquisitely Handcrafted, Vintage Art Deco Solid 14K White Gold Filigree Bar Brooch set with an Old Mine Cut Diamond Flanked by Two Blue Sapphires.
The central face of the brooch, where the diamond resides, measures approximately 5/16 of an inch, or about 7.9375 millimeters, high, with the main bar portion measuring approximately 3/16 of an inch, or about 4.7625 millimeters, high. The brooch measures approximately 2 and 1/2 inches, or about 63.5 millimeters, wide, and just over about 1/8 of an inch, or roughly 3.5 millimeters, thick, not including the pinback. (Included please find a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) C-clasp pinback with locking rollover clip. Stamped on the top of the clasp, "14K", unsigned. Also discreetly acid tested as solid 14K gold. The brooch weighs approximately 3.9 grams, which includes the stone weight, of course. The diamond was tested with a Mizar Diamondnite. The sapphires are likely synthetic, but no way available to test them.The round diamond, at approximately 3 millimeters across, equates to a rough guesstimated mounted carat weight of approximately .11 carat. Each sapphire is about 3 millimeters square, which equates to a rough guesstimated total mounted carat weight of approximately .36 carats.
This brooch is in very nice vintage condition. It will have all the expected light surface scratches and possibly tiny dings to the gold from normal wear. No damage found to the diamond. One sapphire has a very tiny chip on the lower edge of a facet, visible under a 10X loupe. The locking c-clasp pin back works well, and the pin itself remains straight and sharp. There is an extremely discreet acid test mark on the rear edge of the pin. Lightly cleaned by hand, but it has not been professionally polished.
A gorgeous, highly detailed, vintage Art Deco 14K solid white gold, blue sapphire and diamond filigree openwork bar pin. A fine example of vintage craftsmanship and a true beauty.
