Gorgeous Vintage Handcrafted Sterling Silver Southwest Hand Stamped Graduated Navajo Pearl or Bench Bead Strand Necklace. This is strung on sturdy silver chain, not filament or cloth string. The three central beads are hand stamped. The flat disc capping the strand on one side is hand signed, "SY", which is most likely attributable to Simon Yazzie. There was insufficient space to get a photo.

The necklace measures approximately 17 and 11/16 inches long, from end to end, and should fit at about 17 and 5/8 inches long, closed. The largest, center bead measures just under approximately 9/16 of an inch, or about 14.25 millimeters, wide. The smallest bead measures approximately 5/16 of an inch, or approximately 7.9375 millimeters, wide. (Included please find a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) No marks as to content, signed, "SY", by hand. Weight is approximately 23.56 grams.

This necklace is in very good vintage condition. It may have the expected surface scratches and normal wear to the silver. No visible dents or creases to the beads, but there are many surfaces to examine and some could have been missed. Hand polished, but plenty of tarnish remains, as care was taken not to remove the desirable patina and the beads started out completely blackened. This is a handmade item which will not be perfectly symmetrical nor machine-perfect in any way.

A very striking, well-executed artisan signed Sterling silver Navajo Pearl necklace, with hand stamped detailing and a lovely, weighty profile. A very desirable piece of classic American jewelry in a very wearable length.
