Beautiful, Sinuous and Striking, Vintage or Antique Solid 14K Yellow Gold Snake or Serpent Brooch with an Old Rose Cut Diamond Eye.
The face of the brooch measures approximately 7/8 of an inch high (top of head to bottom of tail), though the pin extends the entire height to about 1 inch high. It measures just over about 3/4 of an inch, or roughly 19.5 millimeters, wide front to back (tip of nose to back of tail), and just under about 1/8 of an inch thick, not including the pinback. (Included please find a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Standard locking pinback. Stamped on the the back, "14K", unsigned. Also discreetly acid tested as solid 14K gold. The brooch weighs approximately 5.6 grams, which includes the diamond weight, of course. The diamond was tested with a Mizar Diamondnite. The round diamond eye, at approximately 1.5 millimeters wide, equates to a rough guesstimated mounted carat weight of approximately .015 carat.
This brooch is in very nice vintage condition, for it's apparent age. It will have all of the expected surface scratches and tiny dings to the gold from normal wear. No damage to the diamond. The locking pin back is a bit difficult to fasten, though it is sharp and does lock closed. Lightly cleaned by hand, but it has not been professionally polished.
A very eye-catching, wonderful, detailed, vintage or antique 14K solid gold and diamond snake or serpent pin. Nice weight for it's size, with lots of curvy, snaky, style.
