Lovely Vintage Handcrafted and Signed Aksel Holmsen Gold Vermeil over Sterling Silver Dimensional Sailing Ship Pin or Brooch, with Vivid Blue and White Guilloche Patterned Enamel.

   The brooch measures just over approximately 1 and 5/16 inches wide, by just over about 1 and 1/4 inches high, and just over about 1/4 of an inch deep, not including the pinback. (Included is a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Standard locking pinback. Stamped on the back, "Norway Sterling", "925S", and signed with Aksel Holmsen's Stacked "X" mark. Weight is approximately 5.5 grams, which includes the enamel weight, of course.

  This brooch is in good vintage condition. It will have all of the expected surface scratches and tiny dings to the silver from age and normal wear, though no dents or creases are visible. There are a few surface scratches to the lower right white portion of the enamel, and one tiny surface chip to the upper left blue enamel which is stable and has no cracking. Hand polished, but it may need further attention, especially to the back. The locking pin back works fine, and the pin is straight and sharp.

   A very nicely crafted and colorful vintage Aksel Holmsen Norwegian yellow gold over Sterling silver and enamel ship brooch. Beautiful and eye-catching, with wonderful attention to detail.
