Truly Exquisite, Rare, Signed Vintage Asahi Shoten Japanese 950 Silver Etched Compact or Card Case. The mirror can be removed, by gently pulling out the frame that holds it, which allows conversion to other uses.
The case measures approximately 3 inches wide, by just over 2 and 5/8 inches high, and just over 3/8 of an inch deep. The interior dimensions of each side are approximately 3 and 3/4 inches across, by about 3 and 1/8 inches high.(Included please find a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Marked on the inside, "950 Sterling", and signed, "Asahi". Weight is approximately 107.2 grams, which includes the mirror, as shown.
This compact case is in very nice vintage condition, but will have the expected scratches and patina from age and normal use. The hinges and catch work as designed. No monogram. The mirror has some silver losses, but is replaceable, if desired, by removing the internal silver frame, which also allows the conversion to another use, such as a card case. Hand polished, but it may need further attention, if you wish to remove every trace of tarnish.
