Lovely, Fiery, Signed Vintage 14K Solid Yellow Gold and Oval Opal Cabochon Pierced Earrings, with Openwork Swirl Settings. Opals are notoriously difficult to photograph, so included are different light levels and angles, in order to try to capture the color and fire.
Each earring face measures approximately 3/8 of an inch, or about 9.52 millimeters, high, by about 5/16 of an inch, or approximately 7.9375 millimeters, wide, and roughly 1/8 of an inch deep. The opals, themselves, measure approximately 1/4 of an inch high, by about 1/8 of an inch wide. (Included you'll find a US Dime in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) The back of each earring is faintly stamped, "14K", and signed either, "FE", or perhaps, "EE". Combined weight is approximately 1.3 grams, which includes the stone weight, of course.
These are vintage earrings, which have been worn and enjoyed. They will have the expected light surface scratches and possibly tiny dings to the gold. No chips or cracks to the stones. The posts are pretty straight, but one is slightly less so. The clutches hold very securely. Lightly cleaned by hand, but they have not been professionally polished, and could use more attention in order to really shine.
A very classy, versatile and pretty pair of vintage 14K gold and opal stud earrings. Beautiful, with lovely color play. The camera does not do them justice.
