The necklace measures approximately 28 5/8 inches long, from end to end, and should fit at about 28 inches long, closed. The larger yellow gold beads measure about 5/16 of an inch, or approximately 7.9375 millimeters wide. The malachite beads measure just over about 5/16 of an inch, or approximately 8 millimeters, wide, and the tiny gold beads are just over approximately 1/16 of an inch, or about 2 millimeters, wide. (Included you will find a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Stamped, "14K", on the tongue of the clasp, and signed with an "A" or "G" maker's mark. Also discreetly acid tested as solid 14K. Weight is approximately 69.52 grams, which includes the malachite weight and that of the the non-gold end cap fittings, of course.
This necklace is in good vintage condition. It will have a few of the expected light surface scratches and possibly tiny dings to the gold from normal wear, no noticeable dings or dents. No visible chips to the malachite beads, but some areas have a duller finish. The stringing appears to be in good condition, with a bit of wear and a couple of ends showing between beads. The clasp works well and holds securely. The fittings at the ends of the strand are not gold, but perhaps plated brass, possibly replaced at some point. Lightly cleaned the entire strand by hand, but it's always possible that some soiling remains.
A very lovely, richly colored, vintage 14K yellow gold and green malachite beaded strand necklace. Lots of depth and interest in the stone beads, with the richness and contrast of yellow gold. A very classy and versatile necklace.
