Beautiful, Sparkly, Vintage 14K Solid Yellow Gold and Faceted Oval Natural Ruby Stud Pierced Earrings.
Each ruby measures just under approximately 1/4 of an inch, or about 6.25 millimeters, high, by just over approximately 3/16 of an inch, or about 5 millimeters, wide, and just over roughly 1/16 of an inch, or about 2 millimeters, deep. The basket setting measures just under approximately 3/16 of an inch, or about 4.5 millimeters, deep. Though perfectly accurate measurement of a set stone is nearly impossible, each of the rubies is approximately .65 carats, for an estimated total carat weight of roughly 1.3 carats.(Included please find a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Each of the mismatched clutches is stamped, "14K", and the one I believe to be the original is signed, "FF". Also, these earrings were discreetly acid tested and confirmed to be solid 14K gold. Combined weight is approximately .82 grams, which includes the stone weight, of course.
These are vintage earrings, which have been worn and enjoyed. They will have the expected light surface scratches and possibly a few tiny dings to the gold from normal wear. Both posts appear pretty straight, perhaps not perfectly so. Two very tiny chips to the facet edges, one on each ruby, visible under a 10X loupe, but not readily visible to the naked eye. No cracks or edge chips, and both stones are firm in their settings. The mismatched 14K clutches both hold securely. Lightly cleaned by hand, but they have not been professionally polished.
A very nice pair of signed vintage 14K yellow gold and natural ruby stud earrings. Nicely sized, with lots of sparkle.
