Moonstones are always difficult to photograph, and these were no exception. One stone has more a bit more blue fire than the other, but both display more color play than the camera could capture. Much lovelier in person.
Each earring face measures just over approximately 5/8 of an inch, or about 16 millimeters, high and wide, and approximately 3/16 of an inch, or about 4.7625 millimeters, deep. Each stone is approximately 1/4 of an inch, or about 6.35 millimeters, in diameter. (Included you will see a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Each clutch is stamped, "925", unsigned. The earrings appear to be handmade. Combined weight is approximately 3.7 grams, which includes the stone weight, of course.
These are vintage earrings, which have been worn and enjoyed. They will have the expected surface scratches and tiny dings to the silver from normal wear. No visible damage to the stones. Both posts are a bit bent, but neither is severely so. The clutches hold securely. Hand polished lightly, in an attempt to preserve the patina, and there is plenty of tarnish and possibly some soiling left behind.
A very lovely, unusual and feminine pair of vintage Sterling silver and rainbow moonstone bead and scrollwork earrings. Striking. Much lovelier in person.
