Large, Nicely Detailed Vintage or Antique Sterling Silver Dimensional Male and Female Pierrot Clowns Figural Sweater Pin, c. 1930's to 1940's. The camera couldn't properly capture the lovely patina of this piece, putting a golden hue on the patinated areas. It is much lovelier in person.

   The entire piece, horizontal and flat, with the chains fully extended measures just under about 9 inches wide. The male figure measures approximately 2 inches high, by about 1 and 11/16 inches wide, and just over roughly 3/16 of an inch thick, not including the pinback. The female figure measures just over approximately 2 and 1/8  inches high, by just under about 1 and 3/16 inches wide, and just over roughly 1/4 of an inch deep, not including the pinback. (Included please find a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) The two chains each measure just under about 1/8 of an inch, or approximately 3 millimeters, wide. The top chain is about 6 and 3/8 inches long, the bottom chain is a bit longer, at approximately 6 and 1/2 inches in length, to allow it to drape  slightly. Standard locking pinbacks on each pierrot. Stamped faintly and partially on the back of the male's sleeve, "Sterling", unsigned. Weight is approximately 23.2 grams.

   This old sweater pin is in good vintage condition, for it's age. It will have the expected scratches and tiny dings to the silver from age and normal wear. Hand polished, with an eye toward preserving some patina, so it may need further attention if you wish it to be completely free of tarnish. It was completely black to begin. The locking pin backs both work as designed, and the pins are both still straight and sharp.  There is a small acid test mark on the back of one pin.

   A very lovely, softly kinetic, old Sterling silver dancing French pierrot clowns sweater pin. All of the curves and style of the Deco/Nouveau era. An outstanding piece.
