For your consideration, these Large, Beautifully Handmade, Vintage 950 Sterling Silver and Black Niello Enamel Cufflinks, with a Detailed Etched Asian Garden Scene of Peonies and Other Flowers Spilling From A Wooden Cart.
Each cufflink face measures just over approximately 7/8 of an inch, or about 23 millimeters, wide, by just over about 3/4 of an inch, or approximately 20 millimeters, high, and about 1/8 of an inch deep. (Included you'll see a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) The back of each cufflink is stamped, "Sterling 950", unsigned. (950 silver is made up of 95% silver, higher than the 92.5% silver content of Sterling) Combined weight is approximately 11 grams, which includes the enamel weight, of course.
These are vintage cufflinks, which have been worn and enjoyed. They will have the expected surface scratches and tiny dings to the silver from age and normal wear. The enamel has some surface scratches and scrapes, nothing too severe, especially considering the age. The posts are pretty straight, and the hinges move freely. Hand polished, but they may need more attention, as extreme care was taken not to damage the niello enamel and they were very tarnished, to begin.
A very lovely, highly detailed and interesting pair of old etched 950 Sterling silver and black niello enamel Asian scene cufflinks. Standouts!
