Fantastic, Very Large, Handcrafted Vintage Sterling Silver and Faceted Black Onyx Pendant, with Intricate Carved Open Western Scrollwork and Etched Detailing.
The pendant measures just over approximately 2 and 1/2 inches high, including the bale, by just under about 1 and 1/2 inches, or approximately 38 millimeters, wide, and roughly 3/4 of an inch, or about 19.05 millimeters, thick. The bale opening is about 3/16 of an inch, or about 4.7625 millimeters, wide. (Included is a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) The pendant is stamped, "925", on the back, unsigned, and definitely appears handmade. Weight is healthy, at approximately 25.7 grams, which includes the stone weight, of course.
This pendant is in very good vintage condition, but will have the expected light surface scratches and likely a few tiny dings from normal wear. Nothing found larger than a few tiny flea bites in the facets of the stone, but there is some excess glue around the edges which isn't so visible to the naked eye but glows and appears almost white in the photos. Hand polished, but there will probably be more tarnish remaining, especially in the crevices.
A stunning, sparkly, incredibly detailed, vintage artisan Sterling silver and black onyx pendant. Big and striking, though delicately and intricately styled. An amazing piece. The camera does not begin to do it do it justice.
