The ring is approximately a size 8 and 1/2. The face of the ring measures approximately 15/16 of an inch, or about 23.8125 millimeters, high, by just over about 9/16 of an inch, or approximately 14.5 millimeters, wide, and projects just under roughly 5/8 of an inch, or about 15.5 millimeters, from the top of the finger. The band narrows in back to just over about 1/8 of an inch, or around 3.5 millimeters, wide. (Included isa US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Stamped, "925", inside, unsigned. Weight is approximately 9.85 grams, which includes the stone weight, of course.
This is a vintage piece, which has been worn and enjoyed. There will be the expected surface scratches and tiny dings in the silver from normal wear. The thick band is still round and true. There are two very tiny facet edge chips on the stone, visible under a 10X loupe, along with an equally insignificant scratch, fewer than is typical with such a prominent setting. Hand polished, but there will likely still be areas of missed tarnish, in addition to the desirable patina intentionally preserved.
A striking, big, beautiful, and dramatic vintage gold-accented Sterling silver and black onyx ring. An eye-catching, proud, piece of jewelry, with gorgeous detail and a strong profile. This ring will be noticed.
