Beautifully Crafted, Detailed, Antique Hung Chong Chinese Export Sterling Silver Match Box Case.
The piece measures just over approximately 2 and 3/8 inches high, by just over about 1 and 1/2 inches wide, and approximately 3/4 of an inch deep.(Included is a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Hallmarked on the top, including the Hung Chong signature, "H.C". Weight is approximately 34.3 grams.
This case is in good vintage condition, but has all of the expected scratches, dings, and patina from age and normal use. There is a a diagonal crease across the back, noted in the photos. No monogram. Hand polished, but may need further attention.
An incredibly lovely and rare Chinese Export Sterling silver matchbox holder. Fantastic attention to detail, a standout collectible piece by Hung Chong of Canton-Shanghai 1860-1930.
