Beautifully Crafted, Highly Detailed, Vintage or Antique Solid 14K Yellow Gold Carved Owl Pin or Tie Tack with Sparkly Natural Diamond Eyes.
The face of the pin measures just under approximately 7/8 of an inch, or about 22 millimeters, high. It measures just under about 7/16 of an inch, or approximately 11 millimeters, wide, and just over about 1/4 of an inch, or 6.5 millimeters, deep, not including the pinback. (Included please find a US Quarter in the photographs, for the measurement-challenged and ruler-averse.) Standard lapel-style pinback, which has a loop for a tie tack chain and bar which has been removed. No discernible marks as to content, nor is the piece signed but it has been discreetly acid tested as solid 14K gold. The owl weighs approximately 3.14 grams, which includes the diamond weight, of course. The diamonds were tested with a Mizar Diamondnite. Each round diamond eye, at approximately 2 millimeters in diameter, equates to an estimated mounted carat weight of approximately .03 carats.
This old pin is in very nice vintage condition, for it's apparent age. It will have all of the expected surface scratches and tiny dings to the gold from normal wear, the only noticeable one is to the tip of the beak, which is visible in the photos and under a 10X loupe, but not to my naked eye. No damage to the diamonds. The pin back is without a chain and bar, probably worn as a lapel pin, but if you prefer send a note and an attempt will be made to find tie tack style that fits. Lightly cleaned by hand, but it has not been professionally polished.
An eye-catching, delightful, remarkably detailed, vintage or antique 14K solid gold and diamond owl pin. The diamonds appear to be of very nice quality, with brilliant scintillation. The owl has so much personality. You won't find craftsmanship such as this anymore. A really great piece.
